Hello! My name’s Knyla (Knee-Lah), the owner of Janeé Bakes, a cottage bakery located in the southeast part of Tucson. I’m a 17-year-old Illinois native living in Arizona who has been trying to understand the temperatures since moving here in November of 2021. I’ve been baking since I was little but got more into it starting in late 2019, and heavily into it during the pandemic. I started baking random things, from angel food cakes to artisan bread. Enrolling in my school’s culinary arts class made me fall even more in love with the art of baking, as I became more interested in the science of baking and what’s happening when you’re doing one technique over the other or switching ingredients. I decided I wanted this to become my career path. Even though covid cut the class experience short, I am still actively learning as much as I can.
