The purpose of I’m Not What It Says I Am, Inc. is to provide permanent housing for individuals with HIV/AIDS and to help reduce the stigma of HIV/AIDS in Pima County, Arizona. According to Pima County statistics, the rate of HIV/AIDS is increasing among the adult males from 21 to 65 and adults females from ages 18 to 55. This organization will serve both males and females. The geographic area to be served is Pima County, Tucson, Arizona. We are specifically requesting general operating support to help meet the basic needs of our target population with permanent housing.
Our organization is unique. We are in collaboration with students at the University of Arizona and Pima County to implement various support groups and recreational activities.
One of the barriers to quality of life for our clients is the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. We will educate the Pima County community about HIV/AIDS prevention in an effort to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS.
We work to create economic vitality and cultural enrichment through community development, neighborhood revitalization, economic development, cultural enrichment, and access for underserved populations.
We do not serve a primary ethnic group; all people with HIV/AIDS are welcome. I’m Not What It Says I Am
