I was raised on the East Coast somewhere between the hustle and bustle of NYC and the laid back college town of Hampton, VA. After graduating from college at UVA, I went on to earn my doctorate of medicine from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
After med school, I completed my Family Practice residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. During residency, I was named Intern of the Year my first year, Resident of the Year my second year, And Chief Resident my third and final year. I also participated in several hospital committees regarding Quality Assurance and Graduate Medical Education. During those years developed a passion for patient education, as well as an interest in hypertension and diabetes management, particularly in those communities most effected by those chronic conditions. Those interests continued to grow while working in community health in central Phoenix for a number of years.
