Dr. Watley completed his Doctoral Studies from the same university in 2017 earning a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision upon the completion of a dissertation which explored the lived experiences of men who struggle with the relationship between masculinity and muscularity.

He dedicates his decision to become a counselor to one of his former students at Archbishop Rummel High School. Dr. Watley and this particular student had become close throughout his time at the school and the student would often confide in Dr. Watley about his addictive drug and alcohol abuse as well as his abusive home situation. It was during these conversations that he realized that he wanted to do more to help not only this student, but others who had similar troubles. Since their meeting, the student has passed away, but Dr. Watley still dedicates his success to this young man.

Dr. Watley worked as a school counselor at Dillard University, as an adjunct professor at The University of Holy Cross, and has a private counseling practice. He was recently licensed in the state of Arizona and is now seeing residents of Louisiana through Teletherapy as he builds his practice in Arizona . He is also a board approved supervisor in Louisiana and is accepting new counseling interns.
