About Me

Meela Hill was born and raised in Detroit, MI. She moved to Tucson in 2018. Since the move, she's discovered she is an artist and became a 500hr certified yoga teacher, and a full spectrum trained doula. She is a full-time mother majoring in Information Technology at Pima Community College. She recently completed her first artist residency with Catalyst Creative Collective by SAACA where she started Light The Mic open mic and Beyond The Chords youth music program with Mo Laflo. She's worked as a teaching artist at DREAM School’s KindeziCare youth programming where she lead movement through storytelling. She hosts art & yoga retreats, and you can find Meela around town at local artisan/makers markets. She holds space for everyone to live with authenticity and joy. She founded Jijivisha Holistic, a healthcare company combining her yoga and doula knowledge, to empower Black women in finding their purpose and cultivating healthy, affirming relationships. Meela taught yoga for OM Yoga at Movement Culture's new location in 2023! She has partnered with NAMI Dekalb, Southern Arizona Gender Alliance, Acorn Center for Freedom, and more to bring forth arts and wellness programs for Black and Brown people across the country. As a member of Rooted Doula Collective, she is dedicated to creating spaces for Black people to birth, learn, and parent in ways that resist the trauma of white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism.
